“Our Firm hears from Pradaxa patients who allegedly suffered serious incidents of Pradaxa bleeding on a regular basis. It’s not surprising that the number of claims in this litigation has mounted so quickly,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free legal evaluations to alleged victims of Pradaxa bleeding.
Pradaxa Bleeding Lawsuits
According to court documents, 1,523 Pradaxa lawsuits have been filed in the Southern District of Illinois on behalf of 1,630 people who where allegedly affected by Pradaxa bleeding side effects. All of the claims pending in the litigation allege that Boehringer Ingelheim failed to provide adequate warnings about the risks associated with the blood thinner, particularly the lack of an antidote for Pradaxa bleeding. The first bellwether trial in the federal proceeding is scheduled to start in September 2014
Approved in August 2010, Pradaxa is a blood-thinning drug used to prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation. While it was touted as an improvement over warfarin, Bloomberg.com recently reported that the drug has been the subject of a number of safety alerts in the U.S. and abroad regarding the internal bleeding that can sometimes accompany its use. Most recently, a study published by the Institute for Safe Medicine Practices reported that Pradaxa bleeding is 5 times more likely to be fatal compared to warfarin bleeding.
Alleged victims of Pradaxa bleeding side effects may be entitled to compensation for their medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and more. Click Here to contact a Pradaxa lawyer at Bernstein Liebhard LLP today. To arrange for a free legal consultation, please call 800-511-5092.
