PrepForward Helps Bilingual Teachers on Their Road to Urban Classrooms
Wayland, MA (PRWEB) August 29, 2014 -- A Massachusetts woman with dreams of one day becoming a bilingual special education teacher in the Worcester Public Schools is awarded PrepForward’s teacher preparation scholarship to help her become certified.
PrepForward, an industry leader in online teacher preparation courses, provides scholarships for their innovative self-paced courses. Elsa Rivera, a student at Worcester State University, has been awarded PrepForward’s teacher preparation scholarship to help her prepare for her teacher certification exams. Elsa will receive free access to any of PrepForward’s math, reading, language arts, writing, or inclusion courses to help her gain the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in the classroom. Many prospective Massachusetts teachers are struggling to pass the difficult MTEL exams, especially the math subtest of the General Curriculum MTEL exam. Passing this MTEL test is the last hurdle for Elsa to become eligible to begin her student teaching.
Elsa became motivated to become a certified teacher because she noticed a huge shortage of Spanish speaking educators in the field of education in general but in particular in special education. She noticed that many English language learners end up placed in special education and a large percentage are Spanish speakers, yet they rarely have Spanish speaking teachers available to them.
PrepForward established a scholarship program to ensure dedicated educators with financial needs could obtain proper preparation for the classroom. Scholarship applicants may be at any stage in their teaching career, including teacher candidates preparing for state licensing exams and current teachers who are seeking professional development. PrepForward’s solutions include self-paced, online courses that feature targeted lessons, interactive exercises, full-length simulations, detailed explanations, rich diagnostic data, and expert instructor support. Please contact PrepForward to find out how these solutions to improve teacher effectiveness can be used to help the teachers in your district or institution.
