PrepForward’s Online Inclusion Course Approved for MA Teacher Professional Development
Quincy, MA (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- Teachers can use PrepForward’s self-paced, online inclusion course to get professional development credit while learning how to successfully teach students with disabilities in a general education classroom. The Massachusetts Department of Education has approved PrepForward’s innovative courses as a method of accruing professional development points (PDPs) for current educators wanting to maintain their teaching certification.
Without specialized training, educators often feel unprepared to teach students with learning disabilities, autism, speech disorders, ADD/ADHD, and visual or auditory impairments. The online course will provide insight into the challenges for learners and how the teacher can effectively support these students. For each disability, the course includes approaches for lesson planning, effective teaching, classroom management, assessment, strategies for outside the classroom, and assistive technology tools. After taking this course, prospective and existing educators will be confident in their ability to effectively teach all students in an inclusive classroom.
The course is an extension of PrepForward’s existing programs for teacher certification preparation and teacher professional development. PrepForward courses are being used at institutions across Massachusetts, including Boston Public Schools, Wheaton College, Westfield State, and UMass Boston. Thousands of prospective educators have used PrepForward solutions to strengthen their fundamentals and teach with confidence.
