Robinson+Cole Strengthens Privacy and Data Security Team with New Lawyers
PROVIDENCE, RI (PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- Robinson+Cole welcomes Linn Foster Freedman to its Business Litigation Group as a partner, where she will chair the firm’s Privacy and Data Security Team. Ms. Freedman joins the firm from Nixon Peabody LLP, where she led its Privacy and Data Protection Group and HIPAA Compliance Team. Additionally, Kathryn M. Sylvia has joined the firm’s Privacy and Data Security Team as an associate. Ms. Freedman and Ms. Sylvia regularly practice out of the firm’s Providence and Boston offices.
Ms. Freedman focuses her practice on compliance with all state and federal privacy and security laws and regulations, as well as emergency data breach response and mitigation. She also authors the blog Data Privacy and Security Insider, http://www.dataprivacyandsecurityinsider.com, offering insights into the tightly controlled and constantly changing industry.

Ms. Freedman works with companies and organizations to adopt a risk management approach to precisely frame the purpose and means for collecting, maintaining, and transferring high-risk data throughout their organization. She currently serves as general counsel to the Rhode Island Quality Institute. Ms. Freedman is an adjunct professor at the Roger Williams University School of Law, where she teaches privacy law. She serves on the Board of Directors of Roger Williams University, Roger Williams University School of Law, and the Rhode Island Business Group on Health. Additionally, she is president of the Foundation for Rhode Island Day Schools. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law and her B.A., with honors, from the Newcomb College of Tulane University. She is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Louisiana.
Ms. Sylvia concentrates her practice on privacy and security compliance under both state and federal regulations. She regularly advises clients on website and mobile app privacy and security compliance. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Roger Williams University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Stonehill College. She is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
