Professional Wrestling Documentary Turns to Kickstarter to Finalize Funding

Behind the Ropes is the first documentary to delve into the real life relationships of pro wrestling and to present a positive depiction of the wrestling community.

"Never has any film shown the inner workings and friendship, the true bond we all share in this amazing sport." WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana

Pro wrestling fans are tired of documentaries meant to expose whether wrestling is “fake” and documentaries that sensationalize the drama and the “grudges.” True fans of the sport know it’s not about factions and animosity. Pro wrestling is about community and brotherhood. To give the fans what they want, The It Factor Productions and EPCW Heavyweight Champion Andrew “The Reinforcer” Anderson will be turning to Kickstarter to finalize funding for Behind the Ropes: The Greatest Fraternity in the World. Behind the Ropes is not about the matches and grudges, the glitz and glamour; it’s about the true story of the families and friendships formed behind the ropes. The documentary takes viewers on a journey with wrestling’s greatest stars and follows one man's path to becoming ECPW’s current heavyweight champion, Andrew “The Reinforcer” Anderson. WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana offers his praises for the film, “Never has any film shown the inner workings and friendship, the true bond we all share in this amazing sport.”

Filming has already included such big names as Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, and The Boogeyman in a rare out-of-makeup interview, as well as dozens of other legendary wrestlers and industry insiders such as journalist Bill Apter, of “Apter Mag” fame.

This documentary has been a long time coming, but bigger studios, worrying about their bottom line, doubted there would be interest in a film that offers a positive take on pro wrestling. After repeatedly seeing the interest from fans and fellow professional wrestlers, Andrew Anderson decided to take the project to independent film production company The It Factor Productions and Kickstarter, where fans can become a part of making the documentary themselves. Once launched, the Kickstarter campaign will allow fans access to on-location interviews, VIP access to screenings, and backstage access to events, along with one of a kind pieces such as exclusive autographs to supporters. Greg the Hammer Valentine, a WWE Hall of Famer states, “This is about the brotherhood of wrestling, any wrestling fan is going to enjoy this film.”

The It Factor Productions is a Tony Award-winning production company based out of New York and Philadelphia. In addition to backing Broadway plays and films that generate Oscar buzz, The It Factor Productions runs two talent management companies: a high-end editorial agency, Colby Models, and a commercial print division, Kaback Model Management, which also represents musicians, celebrities, and world-renowned speakers.
