It started out in 1946 as an institution to provide education for teachers. NTNU later became a comprehensive or “normal” university. Although the university was first founded just a few decades ago, it is now internationally known, particularly for its Mandarin Training Center, an internationally renowned program for Mandarin Chinese study.
As National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei approaches its 70th anniversary in 2016, the leadership of the university is in the process of strategically positioning the university to fit among the best universities in Asia.
