Creative Electronic Products Inc has been invited to submit samples of their electronic propane gauge to Penn State University.

I don't know how it works, but it does! Easy to set it up, then just let it attach magnetically to the propane tank. It rings when you need to go refill the tank (but you still have enough gas for whatever you are grilling).

The Company has just received a request for samples of their electronic Propane GasGenie product. These will be scientifically evaluated along with all the other types of Propane Gauge currently on the market. They have responded with enthusiasm and the samples are already on their way to the Penn State Beaver Campus.

The Propane GasGenie claims to be the only product that actively warns users when their propane tank is getting low. The first warning comes in plenty of time to finish grilling. It uses electronics and temperature sensors to detect the low gas condition.

The invitation to send samples states:
"Our project requires us to evaluate the Tank Level/ Service Indicator for Propane Grill Tanks and the validity of their functional claims. The first step of our project involves investigation and research of the existing commercial products that perform this task."

Creative Electronic Products Inc. is the exclusive distributor of the Propane GasGenie in the US. It has been selling the product on Amazon since spring 2013 and sales have been steadily increasing. They are convinced that their product is the best from quite a wide choice of technologies. But when a Company says their product is best, consumers could be forgiven for thinking: ‘they would say that, wouldn’t they?’ So they have welcomed the announcement of the project and the request for samples because it means that there will soon be an unbiased technical report covering all the existing solutions.

Peter Frank, CEO of Creative Electronic Products Inc, says, "Although we firmly believe our product is the best, there are plusses and minuses for every product, including ours. An independent study by a respected university will be of great use in helping consumers choose the right product for them. I really hope that the manufacturers of the other products in the market react with similar enthusiasm."

The project was defined and assigned by Prof James A Hendrickson P.E. as part of the students’ course in thermodynamics. Prof Hendrickson has gained a reputation for challenging his students with innovative projects that make them think for themselves as well as study. His latest big success was the rebuilding from scratch of the original Henry Ford combustion engine. The students received three Editor’s choice blue ribbon awards at the Detroit Maker Faire in July 2102 for that project.

Peter Frank again, "There are around 47 million propane grills in use in the USA. Almost all of those will have suffered at some stage from running out of gas in the middle of grilling. If this project is half as well done as the Ford project it will be a valuable addition to the understanding of the technologies and options available when choosing a propane gauge."
