GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, Jan. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Provenance Properties Cayman Islands, the exclusive Christie's International Real Estate affiliate in the Cayman Islands and a subsidiary of local developer Dart Real Estate, is showcasing an outdoor art exhibit of nationally significant works this winter.
Curated by the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, the installation includes iconic works from the country's official "Cayman Islands National Collection," which was developed by the National Gallery and is comprised of local artists' works created over the past six decades.
"Art is in the fabric of our business and we're very proud to present this important exhibition," said Jackie Doak, Dart's President Business Development. "Provenance Properties has a direct connection to the art world through its exclusive affiliation with Christie's, the world's leading art auction house, and we believe it's fitting for us to showcase this collection because art, in its many forms, inspires our business."
Director and chief curator of the National Gallery Natalie Urquhart said the Cayman Islands' National Collection offers an unparalleled record of the islands' rich artistic and cultural history.
"At the heart of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands is the Cayman Islands' National Collection, samples from which form the basis of this exhibition," she said. "They're a testament to the country's vibrant history of art."
The exhibit, which includes 10 oversized prints with works from many well-known local artists such as Gladwyn "Miss Lassie" Bush, can currently be seen along the Paseo in Camana Bay, a 685-acre master-planned New Urbanist town on Grand Cayman and the original works are on view in the upper gallery of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.
"The exhibit is beautifully curated," said Doak who also explained that Provenance Properties' approach to curating its own luxury listings portfolio has many similarities to the way a gallery curator might assemble a collection of works. "We're very selective with our listings," she said. "Our luxury properties are works of art and we value their form and function. We also share in Christie's high standards by representing some of the world's most desired waterfront properties right here in the Cayman Islands."
Doak encourages visitors to the Cayman Islands to head over to Camana Bay to experience the exhibit's fine Caymanian art and to enjoy the many shopping, dining and entertainment options at Camana Bay. The art will be on display until the spring.
