PSISTORM Gaming Secures DC EBL Franchise Rights
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) August 02, 2018 -- The ESports Battle League (EBL) today announced that PSISTORM Gaming has secured the franchise rights for the Washington, DC market. The EBL is a new professional multi-title esports league launching in 2019. It will be comprised of geo-located franchises in major North American markets competing in a traditional league format. PSISTORM Gaming joins Elevate, Simplicity, and a yet unnamed 4th team to secure market rights in the EBL.
KJ Garcia, PSISTORM Gaming’s CEO said, "I'm very excited about the EBL's plan. This opportunity was not something we were going to pass up, especially given the flexibility of their system with multiple games. We have players from all over the world, but having a franchise in a prime esports market like DC is very important to us. We know the local scene well, and the collaboration between many different groups of gamers, teams, and organizations is cooperative and passionate. We are inspired by the players, organizations, and fans here, and look forward to representing them in the EBL."
“We are thrilled to have KJ and PSISTORM Gaming acquire the D.C. market. KJ has built a strong organization, and he understands the importance of connecting with a local fan base,” said Scott O’Leary, CEO of the Esports Battle League. “We look forward to working with KJ and his team to engage the DC esports fans and gaming community in the years to come.”
Tefft Smith, PSISTORM Gaming’s lead investor, had this to say, “Our success, and our entry into the EBL, presents a tremendous opportunity for the world to see Washington DC as an esports city. I'm not a gamer, but I am a fan of the high level of competition and passion from everyone involved. Esports is inclusive and not age-restrictive, which consequently allows for a massive audience and business opportunity."
A formal press conference including the name of the DC based team will be held in the future.
