Avid Collector Announces His Search for Original 1968 Jimi Hendrix Merriweather Post Pavilion Concert Poster
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) May 02, 2016 -- Avid collector, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original 1968 Jimi Hendrix Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland concert posters. Dail Beeghley hit a poster design achievement with his Merriweather Post Pavilion Hendrix concert poster. The concert was held on August 16. According to Hawley, “The Pavilion was built to host the National Symphony and had been open for about a year when promoter Durwood Settles brought Hendrix to the venue. A severe thunder storm caused electrical problems but Hendrix delivered a great show to the wet audience. The Pavilions hosted some of the top 1960s and 1970s acts including Janis Joplin. The Who and Led Zeppelin played a joint concert there in 1969. The Beeghley Hendrix poster is unique because the design incorporates both psychedelic and boxing style elements. It features bright dark red and fiery orange Day-Glo colors that melt into psychedelic lettering and images of the band. This beautiful poster was printed on thick cardboard and is 22 x 28 inches in size. The poster’s sturdy construction allowed it to be nailed onto telephone poles to advertise the show.
