Pylon Kickstarter Campaign Enters Final Hours Confident in Last-Minute Momentum
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- With less than 24 hours to go for Pylon’s Kickstarter campaign, it’s last call for those interested in backing the product, a three-square-inch mat that discretely resides on a wall to provide Wi-Fi access to those with permission. Having garnered over $14,000 on Kickstarter, Pylon creator Chris Henseler is hoping for a big final push. The campaign will end at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1.
“The product began as a way to make the social experience of asking for passwords less awkward and the inconvenience of giving them out less of a pain,” Henseler said. “But, our vision for Pylon grew, and we developed it so that users can integrate guests’ phones with a smart TV and audio system for easy sharing of photos, music and messaging. When our backers asked, we even saw an opportunity to extend Pylon to businesses so we created a solution for that as well.”
For those who haven’t been closely following the campaign to this point, Pylon is an ultra-slim mat pre-linked to a Wi-Fi base station so that when users wave their phone or device over it, they are connected to the Wi-Fi. The connection works with Near Field Communication (NFC) on Android, and by bumping the Pylon with iOS, Windows and BlackBerry devices. The Pylon app is used by the network owner to choose which devices can access to the network and even the specific degree or timespan of that access.
Pylon started as a system meant for individual households to allocate their wireless internet access, but during the campaign the team expanded the product to create a business system as well. Equipped with five Pylons and one base station, the Pylon system for businesses can be used for pushing messages out to guests regarding food and drink specials or even mini games and trivia while guests wait for service. Henseler wanted to deliver the same closeness that Pylon brings to personal events to businesses when he created the business solution.
“This campaign has been great so far, and we have appreciated all of the awesome support from our backers to this point,” said Henseler. “Still, we are hoping for a final surge in the last hours of our project, and we are calling on our supporters to take this final opportunity to share Pylon and the experience we’re offering.”
A limited number of early bird priced items is still available for those who back the campaign on Kickstarter, but those interested must hurry with less than 24 hours left to pre-order. Pledge $85 for an individual Pylon or $450 for a Pylon business system. When early bird specials run out, pricing will increase to $100 and $500, respectively.
