Given Qosmos’ focus on developing products that provide real-time network intelligence in SDN and NFV environments, it is natural for us to invest in the development of open source NFV platforms.

Qosmos®, the market leader in embedded Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network intelligence technology for use in physical, virtualized and in Software Defined Networking (SDN) architectures, announced it has joined the OPNFV Project, a community-led industry supported open source reference platform for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Membership will allow the company to further contribute its expertise to the development of future network architectures and help unlock the immense potential of NFV.

Qosmos is dedicated to developing technologies that will accelerate the implementation of future network architectures and is actively involved in ongoing standardization initiatives. As part of a phased introduction of new products providing real-time network intelligence in SDN and NFV environments, the company recently announced the Qosmos Classifier™, a dedicated software function with open SDN & NFV interfaces, designed to enable any type of service combination while optimizing networking and infrastructure costs.

“Given Qosmos’ focus on developing products that provide real-time network intelligence in SDN and NFV environments, it is natural for us to invest in the development of open source NFV platforms,” said Erik Larsson, Vice President of Marketing, Qosmos. “We are eager to share our expertise in network intelligence technology with the OPNFV community.”

The OPNFV project was launched in September 2014 with an intention of developing an open source reference platform for NFV. The community, gearing up for its first code release, has been growing steadily with widespread support from service providers, vendors and open source communities. The project has 52 members who have invested funds and resources to accelerate the implementation of open source NFV.
