Co-hosts Lee Kantor and Stone Payton of Atlanta Business Radio interviewed guest Jennifer Sabel with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Sabel was invited into the studio to talk about her role at IHG and inform listeners more about the company.
InterContinental Hotels Group is the largest hotel company worldwide, representing nine different hotel brands, including Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo. IHG franchises, leases, manages and owns the represented hotels.
As the Business Development Manager, Sabel is responsible for finding companies to use available room nights and meeting spaces for events such as conferences and seminars. “My job is to go after the companies that are not using us,” explains Sabel. When pursuing a client, Sabel sticks to her “3 strikes and you’re out rule,” explaining that even though sales can be very daunting, persistence is important.
With three years of experience at IHG, Sabel has created her own, unique way of selling. IHG represents 4,700 hotels worldwide, and with so many options, Sabel guides the clients through the process of finding the best hotel for their specific needs. Once a location is identified, Sabel puts them in touch with the right person at the chosen location and stays in touch after that point – “follow up is a very important part of the sale,” she said.
