The new book, “Before the Big Bang” (published by Partridge India), by author Raj Jain is a sprightly commentary on class exploitation and struggles, based on real events in a railway town in India.

Before the Big Bang” explores class conflict, exploitation and the invidious distinction between railway workers and privileged railway officers.

Exposure to poverty left Jain with images in his head which he cannot erase. From these images he created the noisy world of struggle in “Before the Big Bang.”

With his story, Jain aims to help railway workers envision a society where they can get their bread and feel wanted in their rightful place, away from the struggle for existence they know too well.

“So long as mistreatment of a working class exists in any form, the book will remain relevant,” Jain says. “The same can be said for young love.”

“Before the Big Bang” also delves into the forbidden romance of young men and women, who break customs to be together.

“The reality of love in life cannot be separated from struggle for existence,” Jain says.
