Ramtech Builds Permanent Modular Classroom Building to Aid in the Merger of Two Beaumont (TX) High Schools After Hurricane Harvey
MANSFIELD, Texas (PRWEB) October 24, 2018 -- Design-build construction firm Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, Texas has announced that the company recently completed a 15,232 square foot permanent modular building for the Beaumont (TX) Independent School District. Ramtech utilized one of its standard classroom wing designs, together with the company's flagship slab-on-grade permanent modular construction process in order to accelerate the completion of the 16 classroom building in less than 115 days. Located at the district's Beaumont United High School campus, in addition to the classrooms the facility includes both boys and girls restrooms on both sides of the hallway in the middle of the building. The site preparation for the project was developed by the school district while Ramtech provided the engineered concrete slab foundation. The exterior of the building incorporates full brick masonry on a parapet wall design, along with an EPDM low pitched roof. The building was constructed to meet the Texas Department of Insurance Windstorm Certification for the Texas coastal area, and also includes other life safety additions including a fire alarm and sprinkler system. The interior features a 9 foot ceiling height throughout the building with textured and painted walls and a combination of vinyl composition and ceramic tile flooring.
The Beaumont United high school campus is the result of the merger of students from Central High School with those at Ozen High School. The district was forced to close the Central High School campus after the irreparable damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The merger of the two high schools required additional space at the Ozen campus which only had a capacity of 1,800 students. The new facility adds room for 400 additional students which meets the current enrollment. Ramtech finished the project in August prior to the start of the 2018-2019 academic school year.
About Ramtech and the Accelerated Building System
Since 1982 Ramtech Building Systems has been providing innovative permanent modular buildings for educational institutions, government agencies, healthcare providers, and Fortune 500 companies throughout the Southern United States. As a design-build construction company, Ramtech offers full in-house design, a manufacturer direct product, and complete site construction services all within a single-source solution. Ramtech's slab-on-grade permanent modular construction process combines the best of off-site prefabrication and on-site construction techniques in order to produce a building faster and with less cost but identical in the look, functionality and life expectancy of a completely site-built structure. Ramtech accomplishes this by setting factory assembled modular sections complete with attached ceilings and walls - but no floors - directly onto a conventional concrete slab foundation. This allows the concrete slab to become the floor of the structure just like a site-built building. All of the exterior and interior finishes are then site-applied, enabling Ramtech to provide their clients with a new facility faster and with less design and construction costs, while still having the same aesthetic choices and curb appeal as a completely site-built structure.
