Auromira Architects Announces the Completion of Adarve Prosthodontics: Incorporating the Principles of Healing Environment to Alleviate Patient Stress and Anxiety

The 1610 square feet dental practice with three operatories is now operational and open for patients. The dental practice provides a very warm, inviting and comforting atmosphere for the patients. The practice serves young, adults and seniors with complete implant, restorative and cosmetic care. Adarve Prosthodontics is the first and only Prosthodontic specialty practice in Apple Valley, MN
According to Mythili Thiagarajan AIA., LEED® A.P, Principal at Auromira Architects,Dr. Ranier M. Adarve DMD, MS, MHPE, Prosthodontist wanted the space to be unique to brand his practice, enhance patient experience by reducing stress and anxiety, support the latest medical technology and equipment, and stay within budget. We listened to the requirements, incorporated them into our guiding design principles and accomplished the following:
• Wayfinding: The dental practice is located on the 2nd floor. Architecturally, we wanted to provide strong visual cues in addition to the building signage. So we opened up the wall adjacent to the entry door and provided translucent glazing. For the new visitor, the glazing provided a partial glimpse of the practice and made it a key focal point in the corridor. This drew attention to the practice while maintaining privacy.
• Warm and comforting atmosphere: The focal wall in the main reception has a bright accent that anchors the seating. The wall on the opposite side has a unique wall covering and its linear texture guides the eye to the operatories beyond. While the reception area is vibrant and inviting to the patient, the operatories have a soothing, neutral color scheme with abundant daylight and high ceilings to relax the patient.
• Enhance patient experience by reducing stress and anxiety: During a patient's visit to the dental practice, most of their time is spent looking at the ceiling as the dentist performs the procedure. We took into account this key aspect while designing a patient friendly space given studies have shown that daylighting, views and connection to nature significantly reduces stress. Each operatory has a recessed backlit acrylic panel called Luminous SkyCeiling® that closely mimics the sky, enhances the patient's connection to nature and is inherently calming. The wave panel behind the reception gives a sense of calm confidence to the practice and the patient.
• Latest medical technology and equipment: Dentistry is a highly equipment intensive segment of healthcare. Adarve Prosthodontics brings the state of the art medical technology and equipment to its patients in order to best serve their needs. Auromira Architects provided a well-designed space that took into consideration the clearances and space requirements for the dental equipment. We worked closely with the dental equipment supplier and the general contractor and addressed all of the client needs.
