Rare Beer Club™ Featuring Exclusive Belgian Beer Not Distributed in U.S. During Month of December
Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) December 12, 2013 -- The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club will be including Floreffe Prima Melior as one of their featured December beer selections for Rare Beer Club members. Floreffe Prima Melior is an 8.0% ABV Special Reserve Ale from the Brasserie Lefèbvre brewery. This Belgian Strong Dark Ale is rarely imported to the United States, and only in small amounts. After December, all beer club members will be able to order Floreffe Prima Melior through the club’s online purchasing options. Club members can order this beer in quantities ranging from two to twelve 750 ml bottles.
Prima Melior was the Special Reserve Ale brewed exclusively for the use of the Abbot and his guests at the Floreffe Abbey in the heart of Belgium from the 13th through the 18th centuries. Today, it is very difficult to get this beer in the United States without a membership to The Rare Beer Club™. One of the key spices in Floreffe Prima Melior is anise and the beer also features a low-to-moderate level of licorice that increases with temperature. The Floreffe Prima Melior ages very well as it conditions in the bottle over time, drying out slightly and letting its spices lightly taper off.
Owner Kris Calef commented, “This beer was brewed exclusively for the guests of the Abbot coupled with the fact that it’s not currently being imported into the US outside of our club, seemed fitting for a Rare Beer Club feature. It’s got a wonderfully complex nose comprised of varied esters and phenols, hints of apricots, and a subtle mustiness. You can’t miss the presence of anise, plums and other dark fruits. It’s big and flavorful and now worthy of more than just the guests of the Abbot!”
The Lefèbvre Brewery brews Prima Melior, and has been in near-constant operation since the late 1800’s. Today, they remain a family-run craftsman business through six generations of Lefèbvre brewers. This family brewing operation offers a variety of beers including traditional witbiers, Abbey ales, honey-laced lagers and an assortment of fruit beers.
Each month, members receive twelve 12-oz. handcrafted microbrews along with an informative newsletter which details featured selections, what to look for when tasting them as well as histories of the breweries that created them. Featured selections are chosen by an evaluation panel of certified beer judges for creativity, quality, and freshness from literally thousands of U.S. and international microbreweries and brewpubs.
