With more planes appearing every page, readers and airplane buffs alike will swim in a wealth of knowledge about the old days of aviation by a man who lived them.

Memoir: Dynamite, Check Six” (published by AuthorHouse), author Ray Jones’ new memoir, takes readers back to the golden age of aviation, 1954-1975, through the eyes of an Air Force pilot.

“This book isn’t primarily about relationships. There’s no romance involved – not even any close friendships,” says Jones. “It’s mostly about flying machines and their missions. But people are important. After all, pilots fly the machines.”

Jones writes about a time when aviation was less strict and the possibilities were endless. Here, readers join Jones and an assortment of brave men trying to leave their mark in the sky. “There are a lot of characters here that aviation buffs will immediately recognize,” says Jones. “Lots of record-setting test pilots, some astronauts, an aviation legend, as well as a couple of popular entertainers, a famous TV-news anchor and even two former presidential candidates.”

Though readers will be delighted to get a candid look at Jones and his associates, airplanes are the true stars in this tale. “None of them were perfect,” recalls Jones, “but many of them excelled performing their assigned tasks.” With more planes appearing every page, readers and airplane buffs alike will swim in a wealth of knowledge about the old days of aviation by a man who lived them.

An excerpt from “Memoir: Dynamite, Check Six”:

“I have lots of ‘favorite’ airplanes, but Douglas’ A-1H Skyraider stands out. There has never been a better attack fighter in terms of accuracy in iron-bomb delivery, weapons load-carrying ability or endurance. Lockheed’s F-104A or C models were many pilots’ dream machines. Their luster dimmed somewhat for me after I flew them. But they were certainly suitable for training Test Pilot School students to perform zooms and shuttle-aircraft type approaches and landings.”
