RCN Unveils Sleek, Simpler New TiVo User Interface
Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) November 17, 2014 -- RCN, an industry-leading provider of high-speed Internet, digital TV and phone services, announced today that it will complete the roll-out of a new user interface for RCN’s TiVo® service. This updated interface is equipped with new guide functions and also introduces a variety of features such as faster navigation, better search capabilities and new TV apps. Users will enjoy a faster experience within the sleek new TiVo menus, marking a significant improvement in performance. The new interface is being phased in progressively across all RCN markets and will be available to all RCN TiVo customers by Nov. 15.
The My Shows page offers a key addition found in this upgrade, with the Three Column My Shows feature that allows users to filter programs based on categories. This means that viewers will be able to find what they want to watch in a much more efficient way. They can simply navigate and select programs without having to dive further into each folder to see what is available. Users are also able to customize searches using their remote.
The new TiVo user interface also offers the highly anticipated Android streaming for the first time. This will allow RCN TiVo users to stream content to Android devices while they are within the home. Once the app is downloaded to an Android device, customers can connect to their feature-rich TiVo and access a variety of TiVo elements, including the guide, information on the current program playing, the My Shows list and the Browse feature. When a customer finds a program to watch, they simply click “Watch Now,” select the type of device they are using and choose recording options. TiVo will begin to record so that shows can immediately stream to the Android device.
“RCN is focused on the wants and needs of our customers, and we always put those considerations first,” says RCN COO Chris Fenger. “The past year has been one of great change and improvement at RCN, as we have delivered a variety of new offerings to enhance the customer experience. Each of these offerings is a building block, and the new TiVo user interface represents the latest improvement for our customers. We will continue to enhance the user experience and listen to our customers so that we can consistently provide them with what they want, when they want it.”
New apps like Spotify, HSN Shop-By-Remote and the Huffington Post are also available with this release. The Huffington Post covers a variety of up-to-the-minute topics – from current events to entertainment to technology. Spotify is a membership-based music service that gives you unlimited access to millions of full-length music tracks right on your TV. And with the HSN app, you can now shop by remote while streaming HSN Channel on your TV – just in time for the holidays.
