REMI Urges Readers to Consider a Real Estate Career
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2013 -- The Real Estate Marketing Insider advised its young readers, particularly recent college graduates, to consider a career in real estate. REMI asserted that thanks to a shortage of young realtors, there are a multitude of opportunities for smart young workers in the real estate industry, and the changing business model is poised to allow for entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity among young workers.
REMI’s announcement came on the heels of a July 1 editorial published in the Inman News concerning the issue of attracting new talent to the real estate industry. Despite the myriad opportunities and under-attended markets around the country, even the best real estate markets seem to be having trouble attracting young talent. According to the latest NAR member survey, only 6 percent of the existing realtor work force is under 34, where about a quarter are over 65. In the editorial, Renwick Congdon, founder and CEO of Seattle-based Imprev Inc., suggested an innovative solution to attract young talent. He proposes that the realtor profession be reframed not as a sales trade, but as a chance for business ownership. According to Congdon, the old style of realtors as self-motivated salespeople could be replaced by a new style in which real estate agents own their business, whether affiliated with a brokerage or not. This would promote a sense of ownership among young professionals, who are looking not to be a salesperson, but to be a business owner.
The Insider urges young people to consider a career in real estate as the industry shifts. Smart, motivated young entrepreneurs are poised to rake in big rewards by pursuing opportunities in real estate. Any college grad, whether majoring in science, liberal arts, fine arts, or any other area, may possess the skill set necessary for success in real estate. REMI thinks that graduates who love challenges, are willing to work hard, and can be creative with advertising and marketing tools will quickly find a home in the real estate business. The Insider strongly believes that the real estate industry is changing rapidly to make room for the next generation of the workforce.
The Real Estate Marketing Insider published a statement encouraging recent college graduates and other motivated young people to consider careers in real estate. As new business models that are well-suited to a young, tech-savvy generation emerge, opportunities for smart young entrepreneurs in the real estate industry will increase manifold.
