Savills Studley Represents Results for Development Institute During Headquarters Relocation
WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) September 01, 2015 -- Today, Results for Development Institute (R4D), a non-profit organization whose mission is to unlock solutions to tough development challenges that prevent people in low and middle-income countries from realizing their full potential, moves to 1111 19th Street, NW. Savills Studley, the leading global commercial real estate firm specializing in tenant representation, worked with R4D, a long-time client, in their search and relocation into new offices.
R4D will occupy approximately 24,000 square feet of space specifically designed to meet the group's future growth needs. The organization’s new lease was negotiated earlier this year in response to the future redevelopment of their previous building at 1100 15th Street, NW.
“We had a fixed deadline for the relocation, but a top priority for us was to stay within the area. It was also important that the location accommodate our plan to grow our numbers over time,” said Shirlene Archer, Chief Administrative Officer, Results for Development Institute. “The 19th Street Corridor offers an outstanding amenity base that is close to our partners and doesn’t alter our employees’ commutes. Our new space will also feature additional conference facilities and a more open, collaborative work environment than before.”
Ben Plaisted, an Executive Managing Director at Savills Studley’s DC office, represented R4D, along with his colleagues Greg Scheipers, John Gasque and Mordecai Scott. In recent years Plaisted’s team has steadily built a reputation for having a distinct expertise within the international non-profit community. Their work with many international relief and development organizations has included notable groups such as PACT, Globalgiving, and Development Gateway. In the past 8 months the team has represented: the Center for Democracy and Technology (1634 I Street, NW, 9,800 square feet), Relief International (1101 14th Street, NW, 6,700 square feet), Guidestar (1250 H Street, NW, 5,000 square feet), and CNFA (1828 L Street, NW, 18,300 square feet).
"We have enjoyed serving the international relief and development community of non-profits that are headquartered in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area," said Plaisted. "Advocating for these groups has been truly rewarding. Understanding that every dollar they save on real estate costs helps further their mission, and improves the lives of others throughout the world, which gives our work a more significant meaning."
