The August 2013’s median sales price of $854,750 was substantially higher than August 2012’s median sales price of $655,000 and August 2011’s sales price of $737,500.

The John Herman Team is pleased to release the latest results for August 2013’s real estate performance review for homes in South Barrington L. This month’s review revealed a significant increase in the median sales price, the number of close sales and the number of new listings.
The median sales price for homes sold in South Barrington was the highest it has been in three years. The August 2013’s median sales price of $854,750 was substantially higher than August 2012’s median sales price of $655,000 and August 2011’s sales price of $737,500. There was also an increase for the third year in a row for the number of closed sales in this community. The number of closed sales rose from 7 closed sales in August 2011 to 8 closed sales in August 2012 to 14 closed sales in August 2013.
The Illinois real estate performance review also showed a decrease in the number of homes for sale for the third straight year. The number of homes for sale fell from 81 homes in August 2011 to 67 homes in August 2012 to 58 homes in August 2013. There was, however, an increase in the number of new listings for homes in South Barrington. The number of new listings has risen for the past three years going from 6 new listings in August 2011 to 13 new listings in August 2012 to 14 new listings.
There was also a decrease in the month’s supply of inventory for South Barrington homes for sale. The month’s supply of inventory declined from 20.3 homes in August 2011 to 12.8 homes in August 2012 to 9.2 homes in August 2013. There was some improvement in the market time for homes in sold in this community. The number of days homes remained on the market fell from 324 days in August 2012 to 89 days in August 2013.
