Realtor David Price and Kudo Park LLC Set to Break Ground on Container House Project

"This is something my partner Jake Gould, who is based in Hong Kong, and I have been working on for over 2 years," said Price. "We have a piece of property and expect to break ground very soon."
They plan to sell the container homes as kits at a lower cost than normal U.S. prices. "We've seen some current models of what we are doing and the cheapest model we've seen is about $25,000, which is a 20-foot studio container house," noted Price. "We want to build something four times that size, but with two-thirds of the normal cost of materials on a traditional project."
Price and Gould are working as fast as they can to get the initial home built before April. They will be documenting the build and taking as much video and photos as they can so they can post updates.
Container homes are coming out as one giant kit with all the materials one will need to build. The container is the body of the house, which will be wrapped with different materials such as foam installation, stick framing with drywall, etc. "The interior will look identical to a traditional house," added Price. "The houses themselves are very structurally sound."
The homes will have tile flooring and may have quartz countertops (the team is still brainstorming the type of countertops they would like to use). All the materials used to build the homes are pre-cut, pre-measured and ready to go.
"The end goal with these units is we want to make it easy enough for two people to buy and assemble it themselves, if they'd like. The option to hire a contractor to build for you will essentially be up to the consumer," concluded Price. "The experience has been exhausting, but oh so fun."
