Rain Doesn’t Have to Kill the Well-Planned Fourth of July Barbecue With a Contingency Plan in Place
FORT LEE, New Jersey, (PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- The Fourth of July is everyone's favorite excuse for a barbecue, although an unexpected day of rain can quickly spoil the plans. In the latest blog from Marble Media LLC’s RecipeIdol.com dated June 28, 2013 and titled “Saving Your Barbecue From a Rainy Day Wash-out,” guest blogger Liz Ernst offers tips for saving an outdoor summer party when rain threatens to shut it down.
“It’s bound to happen sooner or later that your long-planned barbecue is threatened by rain,” Ernst says. “But that doesn't mean your barbecue has to be a bust.
“Any seasoned barbecue host can tell you that eventually all outdoor summer party hosts will be faced with such a scenario, but by planning ahead you can save your party and still enjoy the wonderful grilled feast you have planned.”
Ernst reminds readers to begin making their rainy day contingency plan by keeping an eye on weather reports in the days leading up to the party. Some areas of the country are more likely to experience mid-summer downpours, but everyone should be on guard according to Ernst.
On the morning of a planned party, Ernst advises readers to be prepared to spring into action if rain threatens by having an indoor venue option in place, or a portable canopy of some sort to cover the outdoor grill and keep the burgers and dogs coming.
“Always have a contingency plan for entertaining guests indoors,” Ernst says. “Hopefully you can have everyone in the house for the party, but if not a covered porch or gazebo should do the trick.
“If the house is not party-ready and you haven't built a permanent outdoor gazebo or porch just yet, an easy-to-set--up party tent rented from a local party or catering store can be just the ticket for salvaging your outdoor event.”
With a contingency plan in place for every outdoor party planned, Ernst tells readers that hosts can save their events from an abrupt wash-out.
“You also send the message to friends and relatives that they needn’t let inclement weather keep them away from any party you throw,” Ernst says.
