Recorded Books Releases Suite of New APIs for eAudio, eBook service OneClickdigital
Prince Frederick, MD (PRWEB) June 19, 2014 -- Recorded Books has launched new application programming interfaces (APIs) to help libraries and their partners integrate OneClickdigital content into their apps and platforms.
OneClickdigital is an online service that libraries and their partners use to deliver eBooks and downloadable audiobooks to library patrons. APIs, in essence, help software components interact with each other, so the release of these new APIs is expected to help facilitate the incorporation of OneClickdigital into libraries’ online offerings.
“Recorded Books’ development team has been hard at work developing a suite of APIs that enable vendors to integrate OneClickdigital with their apps and platforms,” said Mike Trask, Recorded Books’ director of development. “In May, we launched the OneClickdigital Developer Portal along with the first set of OneClickdigital APIs.”
The OneClickdigital Developer Portal serves as the gateway for accessing OneClickdigital APIs. The Developer Portal gives interested libraries and partners the documentation, test scripts, and technical support information needed to integrate platforms and apps with OneClickdigital.
The initial group of OneClickdigital APIs includes Titles Service, Title Checkouts Service and User Account Service.
Titles Service supplies access to all title information for a specified library, including ownership and availability. Title Checkouts Service provides the ability to perform transactions such as checkouts, check-ins, renewals, and holds. User Account Service allows the creation of new users and the retrieval of lists of existing users.
“The release of these APIs is part of our ongoing efforts to meet the needs of libraries, and ultimately library patrons, in the face of rapidly changing technology,” continued Trask. “We have a robust service for delivering eAudio and eBooks to libraries, and this is just one of the ways we’re helping to accomplish that goal.”
