Innovative Insulation Recently Provided Reflective Insulation for Major Project
Arlington, TX (PRWEB) August 22, 2013 -- Innovative Insulation, Inc. recently provided reflective insulation for a major project in the New York City area.
The Fabric Dome ice rink in New York City was experiencing major problems with solar heat gain from the roof, melting the ice and heating the interior. The customer installed Tempshield Double Bubble Double Foil reflective insulation below the ceiling this past June.
Guests and staff noticed an immediate change in the interior comfort, which was not air conditioned. Prior to the installation, any day that the outside temperature exceeded 85 degrees, the facility had to close because the ice was melting and the interior temperature was unbearable. Recently, on a 103-degree day, the inside temperature was a comfortable 70 degrees.
The normal summertime setting for the ice plant compressors is zero and the compressors run 24/7 because they couldn't keep up. With the new reflective insulation, the compressors are now set at six degrees, which could equate to an energy savings close to 50 percent.
Data was compared with 16 days in July 2012 to the same 16 days in July 2013. The average outside temperature in 2013 was seven degrees hotter than in 2012. The average indoor temperature dropped from 67 degrees to 61 degrees. The ice temperature dropped 5-6 degrees even at the higher compressor setting.
Patrons have begun to take notice. A former Zamboni operator stopped in for a visit after a two-year absence and remarked that he had never seen the ice so hard. Six local ice rink owners are closely watching the project as they want to achieve similar results in their operations.

The company’s trademark product, Super-R, has become synonymous with reflective insulation.
Their number one goal is to help customers develop more comfortable living spaces while saving money on their utility costs. While the retrofit market has massive potential, the new construction market is also responding to the necessity of the product as a more cost effective alternative to excessive mass insulation and spray insulation costs.
