Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) August 25, 2014

Sunshine Recycling, a Jacksonville dumpster rental company, is donating their services to the building site of a new training facility for K9s For Warriors. The 20-yard dumpster is being used for the massive amounts of debris being generated by Summit Contracting Group, the company providing construction services for the site. Sunshine Recycling is also providing regular weekly hauls during the construction.

K9s For Warriors is a service organization that provides canine companionship to wounded veterans in an effort to make their transition to civilian life easier. The majority of the dogs used for the program are rescued from local shelters. Most of the veterans involved are suffering from the long-term effects of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries. The program has been proven effective; 92 percent of veterans have reduced or eliminated prescription medication after graduation.

Each month, 16 veterans will be able to stay at the new 16,000-square-foot facility where they will meet and train with their service dog. Veterans participating in the program will live at the facility for three weeks. The 9 acres donated by the PARC Group includes a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse that will provide computer stations as well as fitness and game rooms, four 1,500-square-foot houses built for the veterans to live in and a 5,000-square-foot kennel space complete with a bone-shaped pool.

“One of the best parts of being a locally-owned business here in Jacksonville is being able to donate our services to worthy causes,” said Chuck Herb, owner of Sunshine Recycling in Jacksonville. “We are honored to help K9s For Warriors and are so appreciative of the work they do for wounded veterans and rescue dogs.”

Construction for the new facility began in May and is expected to finish by the end of the year.
