Selecting one among various research paper topics is one of the most significant steps in writing a research paper. The normal process is that a person comes up with one topic which he thinks might fit well to his liking. However, the person may face two types of problems at later stage which are:
1) There is very little material available on that topic which makes the research paper writing difficult.
2) The associated thesis may not fit well with the research topic and may lead to different conclusion.
A wrong topic selection may lead to much wastage of time and resources. Hence it becomes important that a person may initially choose three or four topics and check their feasibility in terms of content and associated researches. After that, one topic must be finalized for the research paper work. It is essential that broader aspects of the chosen topic must be avoided. The problem in choosing broader topics is that it may point to different conclusions when analysed using various parameters.
The next step is finding relevant information on the topic. While analyzing the information from various sources, make sure to exclude those sources which contain excessive bias or prediction. The information must be based on content which is acknowledged by number of sources. To write a research paper, the content must have greater level of credibility of its source. The thesis statement must be based on critical thinking.
After getting material, it is necessary to first make a rough outline of sub-topics. This will ensure that the content is arranged in a systematic sequence and has proper linkages. This must be followed by organizing the notes with supporting critical points based on well laid out arguments. Revise the notes and make sure to cite relevant sources. Before making the final paper, proofread to remove spelling, punctuation, missing or duplicated words.
