Movember Inspired Beard Growl Video Crowdsourcing Raises Awareness to Fight Hunger
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- It’s November. It’s Movember. Men everywhere are growing beards. Some for a cause. Some because it’s cold. And some because beards are “in” and happen to be trendy right now. Beard Growl 4 Good is using the trend of beards and micro video sites like Instagram and Vine to wage war against hunger. Bearded men around the globe can submit a 4–15-second video growling out loud to http://www.BeardGrowl.org, and Beard Growl 4 Good will donate one meal to someone in need.
Beard Growl 4 Good is an initiative of Revive Good, a social enterprise company with the focus on promoting kindness, values and social good. “We have created an interactive way for people to spread awareness about hunger issues, help provide food to people in need, and have fun doing it,” says Todd Meador, Chief Impact Officer of Revive Good.
Revive Good has committed to donating up to 1000 meals per month for this initiative. Each month they calculate the number of videos submitted to their site and donate money to a reputable nonprofit which collects, organizes and distributes meals to people in need.
Submitting a video is simple:
1. Record a 4–15-second video using a phone or other video recording device. Videos can be recorded using the Instagram or Vine platform.
2. Upload the video to Instagram, Vine or YouTube. Please include the tags: #BeardGrowl4Good http://www.BeardGrowl.org.
3. Submit the video URL or embed code to the website.
Specific instructions for submitting videos are listed on the Beard Growl 4 Good website.
“World hunger is a huge problem and we are committed to doing our part to help,” comments Mr. Meador. “We have identified a couple of statistics to help people better understand the severity.”
- Nearly one in eight people worldwide suffer from chronic undernourishment.
- Almost one billion people will go to bed hungry tonight, 200 million of them children.
Bearded men and even ladies are encouraged to get involved and submit videos. “The response of the initiative so far has been fantastic. People seem to really like the concept and what we are trying to do. We even had one lady so excited that she created a faux beard with her hair to participate,” says Todd Meador. Submit videos and view videos online at http://www.beardgrowl.org.
