Young readers can be aware of their behavior “as early as three or four,” Sye says. She continues, “‘Silly Monkey’ gives parents and children a reminder that it’s ok to be silly, but it’s also good to cooperate.”

Working as a nanny, author Rhoda Sye witnesses how subliminal messages and positive reinforcement encourage children of all ages. “Silly Monkey” (published by AuthorHouse) promotes good behavior in a format that is easy for both preschool and school-aged children to read.

Monkey knows how to behave, but he wants to know the reaction he’ll get from doing things his way. This rhyming short story offers a lesson from a fun, likable and colorful character. Over the course of the book, Monkey figures out that the things his mommy and daddy teach him warrant a pleasant reaction from others, versus being silly.

From the back cover of “Silly Monkey”:

“It’s fun to be silly. Go on – give it a try,
as long as you’re safe and a grown-up’s nearby.
Using good manners makes you as sweet as can be.
Good behavior and manners make everyone pleased.”
