Author Richard V. Rupp’s love for reading led him to crime, mystery and adventure books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Tom Clancy and more. His career led him in the direction of insurance and risk management. He combines literary inspiration with work knowledge in his new crime novel, “Death & Taxes” (published by Archway Publishing).
In this crime thriller, FBI Special Agent Dick Hartmann heads up an elite squad based in San Francisco. The squad is assigned to investigate a death at the IRS Fresno, California Service Center, which soon leads them to the city’s largest street gang. As the case grabs the attention of the President, the squad travels to Mexico where they must infiltrate a drug cartel to take down a gang member with the power to ruin the lives of millions of Americans.
“I applied my personal business experience to enhance a conceptual murder plot,” Rupp says.
An excerpt from “Death & Taxes”:
“Dick looked up to the ceiling in thought. ‘Man, this case couldn’t get any more complicated. We have a Mexican cartel running drugs into the United States to be distributed by American gangs. We have stolen IRS computer files with personal information we need to retrieve taken into Mexico. We have Chinese intelligence agents being smuggled across the US border to pursue some espionage project, and last of all, we have a murder suspect to catch.’”
