Representatives from RIOT Games Visit Ex’pression College to Discover New Student Talent
Emeryville, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2015 -- Designers and recruiters from Santa Monica-based video game publisher RIOT Games recently met with students and faculty members at Ex’pression College in Emeryville, CA. Creators of “League of Legends”, the world’s largest multi-online battle arena, RIOT Games shared details about the company’s work culture and also reviewed the reels of junior and senior students from Ex’pression’s Animation & Visual Effects, Game Art & Design, Interactive Audio, and Sound Arts departments.
“It was awesome to come out and see all the work that the students are doing, it’s very exciting stuff,” says RIOT Games Principle Tech Artist Te Wilson, who’s also a former Ex’pression faculty member. “It seems like Ex’pression students are really kicking butt.”
The RIOT team, which was comprised of Wilson, Principle Artist Artem Volchik, and Senior Character Artist Patrick Murphy, began their day at Ex’pression with a lunch meeting with Ex’pression’s program directors and faculty. Students then met with Wilson, Volcheck, and Murphy to share their reels and get feedback, recommendations, and ideas.
“It was really cool to visit Ex’pression,” says Volchik. “I’m actually really surprised at how much equipment the school has, and how much students can learn about not just art and visuals, but sound too. Games are all about collaboration, so it’s great to see that students have access to that.”
Ex’pression’s alumni have been hired by Silicon Valley’s premier gaming companies, which recognize the quality of the school’s curriculum and the talent of its graduates.
“Our partnerships with game industry innovators, in combination with our comprehensive curriculum, give our students a valuable head start in building their careers,” says Fred Faridian, Campus Director at Ex’pression College Emeryville. “Each day, aspiring game programmers, level designers, 3D modelers, character artists, and more are taught essential skills by our excellent faculty that will lead them to jobs at studios as successful as RIOT Games. We’re happy to provide this bridge to our students and will continue to do so.”
