Riverside, CA (PRWEB) November 22, 2013
A Riverside drug detox center is launching a new awareness program around adult drug addiction and its severity through services at Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in a recent 2012 report, noted that the rate of current illicit drug use among adults aged 26 or older was 7.0 percent, including rates of 5.3 percent for current use of marijuana and 2.1 percent for current nonmedical use of psychotherapeutic drugs.
Less than 1 percent of adults in this age group were current users of cocaine (0.6 percent), hallucinogens (0.2 percent), heroin (0.1 percent), and inhalants (0.1 percent). The 2012 rate of current illicit drug use was higher than the rate in 2011 and in 2002 through 2009. The 2012 rate of current marijuana use was similar to the rates in 2010 and 2011 (4.8 percent in each year), but it was higher than the rates from 2002 through 2009.
Drug rehabilitation allows adults a chance to get clean from their drug of choice, whether it is cocaine, heroin, marijuana, or prescription drugs. A part of this process is detoxification, cleansing out the physical body filled with mind-altering substances. Drug detox’s main goal is to rid the body of chemical toxins.
Once this process takes place, then counseling and therapeutic methods can enter into play. More times than not, there are real-life issues that a person has used drugs to hide, repress or deny within themselves. Some issues might include physical, emotional, spiritual or mental abuse.
Drug rehab centers stand firmly upon the foundation of the Twelve Spiritual Principles of recovery, which include Honesty, Hope, Faith, Courage, Integrity, Willingness, Humility, Love for Others (Brotherly and Sisterly), Justice, Perseverance, Spirituality and Service.
These centers exist to support and guide recovering individuals as they learn to seek a different path that does not involve drugs. Entering and going through drug rehab can become a life-changing journey for any person serious about kicking their habit.
