Georgia Pharmacist Pays It Forward With Donation to Local High School After Winning Prize Sponsored By Retail Management Solutions.
Lacey, WA (PRWEB) June 19, 2014 -- Oliver Whipple, winner of a $2,000 cash drawing, donated the entire prize to the Vidalia High School science department. Whipple, a pharmacist at City Drugs in Vidalia, GA, won the prize at the 2014 Pharmacy Development Services Annual Conference, held this past February in Orlando, FL. The prize was sponsored and presented by Retail Management Solutions, a provider of pharmacy point of sale technologies developed specifically for independent retail pharmacies around the country.
Retail Management Solutions planned to give away this large donation with the idea of giving back to local schools, with the choice of school to be selected by the prizewinner. After winning the cash prize, Whipple donated the $2,000 to the Vidalia High School science department to purchase labs and lab equipment.
John Sharpe, principal of Vidalia High School, expressed his gratitude. "We really appreciate the generosity of Mr. Whipple. Our faculty and students will benefit from his contribution. It also serves as a great example for our students of the importance of giving back to our community."
Mike Gross, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Retail Management Solutions, also commended Whipple for his contribution. "Giving away this $2,000 donation allowed Vidalia High School to enrich their science programs," said Gross, "making for better education in this field with the use of better resources."
Retail Management Solutions hopes the donation will not only encourage students to pursue careers in science and medicine, but will also inspire their sense of pride in their community, as exemplified by Whipple's generosity. The company hopes to bolster the future ranks of pharmacists, philanthropists, and community-minded individuals.
Pharmacy Development Services, who presented the conference where Whipple won his prize, specializes in helping independent pharmacies round out their business practice, bringing together pharmacy owners with companies like Retail Management Solutions to help them manage and streamline the "non-pharmacy-related" aspects of their stores in which pharmacists might not necessarily be fluent -- aspects such as pharmacy point of sale systems technologies, employee and customer management, and marketing.
The 2015 Pharmacy Development Services Annual Conference will take place from February 18 to February 21 at Renaissance Orlando in Orlando, FL.
Retail Management Solutions is the industry leader in pharmacy pos software technology for retail pharmacy. RMS is the only company in the pharmacy industry specializing strictly in point-of-sale technology for pharmacies, and they've installed more point-of-sale systems in the independent pharmacy market than any other company.
