Self-taught theology student Ron Flowers and his daughter, child psychologist Anise Flowers collaborate on the new children’s book “There Are Seven Houses on My Street: A Child’s View on Religions” (published by AuthorHouse), an overview of seven different faiths in a simple story format.
This new children’s book teaches about religion from a child’s perspective, in hopes of promoting tolerance and understanding of different religious beliefs.
The main character, Ron, lives on a fictional street that is a microcosm of world religions – there are seven houses and each one represents a different faith. His own father is agnostic, and other houses on the street include Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, Islam and New Thought.
As Ron learns about the other religions practiced by the children on his street, he explains the understanding he gains of each one. At the end of the story, Ron and his six friends play together at the park – in spite of their different beliefs.
“We live in a very diverse society in terms of culture, ethnic background and religion,” Anise Flowers says. “Children and adults need to know how to get along with others who may hold different beliefs.”

Ron Flowers is a retired scientist and long-time follower of Eastern religions, primarily describing himself as a Buddhist. He has written two previous books: “What Is?” and “Fingers Pointing, Birds Singing.”
