ATLANTA, July 24, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- All over the globe, interesting people are engaging in unique, quirky, and just plain odd competitive pursuits - and RoShamBo is the podcast that puts you in the middle of the action.
RoShambo is not your typical sports podcast. Instead, it covers competitions such as wife carrying, coffin racing, gingerbread house building, and the world championship of pinball. Listeners are transported around the world, meeting everyday people who seek glory in the most unusual and colorful ways.
"We are not as interested in professional athletes and competitors," says host Kim Drobes, also Executive Producer of the Clark Howard Show. "Instead, we are looking for otherwise ordinary people who, for some reason - or just randomly – have dedicated themselves to these off-beat, under-the-radar competitions."
RoShambo is not limited to simply covering the events; it dives deep into the subcultures that develop around them, bringing them to life. According to co-host Ted Ladue, "culture is central to every competition we explore – the local fans and support groups, the traditions of organizers from decades past, the beloved team that never wins but keeps trying anyway – that's what it is all about for us."
"Some of my best friends are people I've met doing my own obscure sport - mountainboarding. So, I instantly recognized that type of community and camaraderie in the events we cover. I guess these competitions attract a certain type of person, and when those people find other, like-minded individuals, a bond is formed. It's magical."
"There is a wild, cackling, life-affirming spirit in these subcultures, which we love discovering and bringing to our listeners," says Drobes.
Kim Drobes and Ted Ladue are longtime friends who met over a shared love of music and ping pong. Kim had the idea for the podcast at just about the same time that Ted was headed to compete in the World Stone Skimming championships in Scotland.
