“San Antonio, City for a King” is a tool for readers to see and value what had been given by their ancestors for those are the things that paved the way to what Texans have now.

“The city of San Antonio attracts millions of visitors—nationally and internationally—annually, and many ask to know the origin of the city, because of its unique countenance,” author Rudy Felix Casanova says. In line with this, Casanova wishes to present a not widely disseminated information of how “San Antonio, City for a King”(published by Trafford Publishing) came to be.
The book traces the city’s history back in 1730, when families from the Canary Islands, Spain left their homes to comply with their king’s request to establish a population center in the country’s northeast frontier. It follows the pilgrims from Canaries to Vera Cruz and then to Bexar. It also enumerates their many accomplishments in their new home, including farming, ranching and civil ventures still in use today.
Highlighting the great contributions of the fifty-six men, women and children who established a township that has evolved as a significant American metropolis, Casanova presents actual events not previously published, in chronological narrative for better understanding. “San Antonio, City for a King” is a tool for readers to see and value what had been given by their ancestors for those are the things that paved the way to what Texans have now.
