US Sports Camps and The Nike Green Mountain Running Camp Announce Its Move to Kimball Union Academy
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) December 04, 2014 -- The Nike Green Mountain Running Camp (GMRC) celebrates its 41st year offering the very best in cross country summer camp programming on the campus of Kimball Union Academy (KUA) in Meriden, New Hampshire. GMRC takes runners on beautiful trails from campus, features nationally recognized guest speakers and informative educational breakout sessions for campers each day. GMRC runs three weeks each summer for middle and high school cross country runners.
GMRC has designed the perfect mix of learning, training and recreation. KUA’s facilities include a track for pacing practice and spectacular indoor training spaces. The ice rink and 50x80 yard indoor turf facilities are used for rainy day training and optional yoga sessions. Evening recreational activities include volleyball, dance and carefully planned events by recreation staff. A lounge on campus includes wide screen TV, ping pong table and gathering area.
From GMRC Camp Founder Roy Benson, “The move to KUA offers us a chance to upgrade our running venues from back-country roads and a few trails in the woods to endless miles of beautiful, wooded cross country trails. Plus, we finally have access to a track where we can truly practice appropriate training paces, which enables us to more fully realize the goal of our educational component at camp.”
Advanced Placement (AP) Cross Country Class is offered during all camp sessions for those elite runners who desire college level instruction about the Art & Science of Running. Runners are videod and receive personal form analysis.
Previous years’ guest speakers included Villanova’s Marcus O’Sullivan, Oregon’s Vin Lananna, Dartmouth’s Barry Harwick, Oklahoma State’s Dave Smith, Beth Alford-Sullivan from Penn State, celebrity announcer Ian Brooks, and author John Parker.
