US Sports Camps and Nike Running Camps Partner with UNC to Host the Nike Carolina Distance Camp
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) March 07, 2016 -- At Nike Running Camps, youth runners have the opportunity of a lifetime to run on the same courses used by the Tar Heels when training. This program is specifically designed for runners looking to prepare for their upcoming cross country season and achieve that vital base training phase. Camp is scheduled for June 17th-20th, 2016.
“The Carolina Distance Camp is designed to give each camper the most authentic experience in learning what it means to be a cross country student-athlete at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill,” says Jan O’Connor, Executive Vice President of US Sports Camps. “In addition to living the life of a Tar Heel, Head Coach VanAlystyne and his staff conduct a session to analyze, critique and offer insight into each camper’s running biomechanics. We’ve tailored this camp to attract serious runners looking to improve their times and to learn more about the sport they love.”
The curriculum consists of educational lectures given by accomplished NCAA coaches on topics geared toward achieving maximum performance through the many facets of training. The camp is open to all middle-distance and cross country athletes, ages 11-18, whom are interested in furthering their knowledge on training, injury prevention, running biomechanics, nutrition, strength training, and recovery.
Mark VanAlystyne, head coach at UNC directs the program. VanAlstyne is in his fourth year as the head cross country and distance coach for the Carolina track and field and cross country programs. Prior to Carolina, he served 21 seasons at the helm of North Florida's track and field program.
"I'm extremely excited to be partnering with Nike Running Camps,” states VaAlystyne. “Together we’ll be able to bring a truly word-class experience to each runner that attends."
