US Sports Camps and Nike Running Camps Return to the Loomis Chaffee School with Its Youth Track Camp
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) May 21, 2014 -- The Nike Track & Field Camp at The Loomis Chaffee School is open to athletes ages 10-18, with overnight, extended day, and day options. Campers reside in the dorms at Loomis Chaffee and eat in the campus dining facility. Camp runs from Sunday, June 29th to Thursday July 3rd.
Nike Running Camps offer the perfect opportunity to learn from very knowledgeable and noteworthy staff and train in one of the finest prep school environments on the East Coast.
Jesse Chapman, a senior at UConn and the 2013 Big East decathlon champion, will be part of the coaching staff this year. Jesse attended Loomis Chaffee as a PG in 2008-2009, winning New England prep titles in the shot and discus, and finishing second in the 110 high hurdles to a teammate. Camp Director Scott Purdy enjoyed coaching Jesse at Loomis, and he looks forward working with him as a colleague this summer.
Sally Knight, the head boys cross country coach at Loomis Chaffee, will return to coaching at the camp. In the last decade, she has coached seven different athletes who broke 2:00 in the 800 meters in high school, and three of her former athletes have gone on to earn collegiate All America honors, two at Division III schools (Williams and Bates) and one at a Division I school (Princeton).
This spring, the Loomis boys track and field team, led by Camp Director Scott Purdy, won its fifth consecutive Founders League title. In addition, one of his triple jumpers leaped 46' 6", both a school and championship meet record.
At Nike Running Camps, the goal is to stimulate a love for running and aid runners in becoming better, faster and smarter athletes. Camps provide an educational and inspirational experience for campers, ages 10-18, of all fitness levels and abilities.
