Debuting author S. L. LeClair enters the literary limelight with the release of “The Diaries of Abi Rhode” (published by Archway Publishing). This biographical fiction is written in a four-part series that chronicles one woman’s journey through domestic violence, mental illness and redemption.
In the first book, “Into Darkness,” readers follow the life of Abi Rhode as she tells her story in a compilation of diary entries, philosophical quotes and excerpts that deals with domestic violence. Pages took on a life of their own, storing the secrets of her soul in addition to the real-life drama that played out in her home and life. A narrative of love and pain, her journals go all the way from her early years through to her divorce from her high school sweetheart.
As an adult, secrets of horrific abuse — both physical and emotional — play out on the pages of her diary. She voices her heartbreaking fear for the lives of her children, but despite difficulties, Abi still dreams and hopes for a normal life with wide-eyed, childlike enthusiasm. Her journey alternates from hope and sunlight to darkness and despair.
“The Diaries of Abi Rhode” is based on real-life events as LeClair uses Abi’s diaries to share her own experiences. Readers travel along with her through both high and low points, tears and fears, hope and laughter. In here, they get a glimpse of how one optimistic woman strives to turn tragedy into triumph.
With the book, the author hopes to inspire women of abuse and take them from a situation of victim to one of empowerment. To purchase a copy of the book, visit https://www.amazon.com/Diaries-ABI-Rhode-Into-Darkness/dp/1480866156.
