According to SupplyChainBrain, Procurator has taken charge of their excess stock and grasped full control of their inventory levels that were spiraling out of control. In the article “How Sweden’s Procurator Got a Handle on Inventory,” the publication highlighted Procurator’s path to success by increasing visibility with Blue Ridge demand forecasting and replenishment solution.

The article examined the successful turn-around of Procurator’s multichannel supply chain management after their implementation with Blue Ridge, who was named a “Great Supply Chain Partner” in the same issue. Ultimately, Procurator improved service levels from 89 to 97 percent, reduced inventory by 25 percent and increased inventory turns from 2.9 to 6.5.

Procurator is a leading retailer and wholesaler of industrial safety products and cleaning supplies. The company has a complex, multichannel supply chain with 17 stores across five countries, wholesale cash-and carry operations, and an online presence for the retail and wholesale sides of the business.

Previously, the company relied on an ERP system in which forecasts were sales-driven, based solely on historical data. Less than precise forecasts caused the company’s inventory levels to rise while customer service worsened. Anders Armandt, Purchasing Director at Procurator, remembers, “Proactive supply-chain planning had become an impossibility.”

Procurator noted how the implementation of Blue Ridge solutions has increased supply chain visibility and improved efficiency. “We no longer had to separate piles of inventory for different channels, or the customers with whom we had a contract to supply a certain level of inventory,” stated Armandt. He went on to say, “We could also carry out distribution from a central location, further enhancing logistical efficiency.”

Today, the company remains aggressive in driving bottom-line improvements with more efficient supply-chain planning. This year, Armandt plans to launch Blue Ridge Analytics solution to further increase visibility and accelerate results.
