SAE Institute to Host Chicago House Music Workshop with Producers Steve “Silk” Hurley, Phuture, DJ Spinn, and Ultrademon
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 11, 2014 -- A roundtable of influential Chicago club music pros – including Grammy-nominated producer Steve “Silk” Hurley; acid house innovators Phuture; international ghetto house, juke, and ghetto-tech performers DJ Spinn; and seapunk DJ/ Coral Records recording artist Ultrademon - will be featured guests at "Hear & Now: Chicago House”, a free event to be held at SAE Institute’s Chicago campus on Saturday, July 19 from 12:30 to 2:30PM.
“Hear & Now: Chicago House” will examine the artists and producers who have made the Chicago house sound an influential electronic music genre around the world for almost 30 years. There will also be a demonstration of how to create Chicago house-style tracks using the Ableton Live software and Ableton Push hardware.
“There’s no better group of Chicago house music experts than Steve, Phuture, Spinn, and Ultrademon to explain how and why the Chicago house sound is so innovative and distinctive,” says SAE Chicago Campus Director James Thomas. “Their collective musical visions helped to define and advance Chicago house, and attendees – including our audio technology program and music business program students - will get an amazing opportunity to learn the tips and tricks that they use in the studio each day.”
Leading the roundtable discussion and workshop will be Ableton Certified Trainer Orville Kline. In addition to teaching Ableton Live in private one-on-one sessions, Orville is also a DJ and producer. He’s performed live at such major music festivals as Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas, Chicago’s Spring Awakening, and North Coast Festivals, and is also a resident on Chicago’s WKQX-FM 101.1’s Saturday night EDM radio show, “The Electric Playground”. His tracks have been released on Menage, Dirty Fabric Digital, Peak Hour Music, Calamity of Noise, and Invisibles Records.
The "Hear & Now: Chicago House" event featuring Grammy-nominated producer Steve “Silk” Hurley, Phuture, DJ Spinn, and Ultrademon will be held at SAE Institute’s Chicago campus at 820 North Orleans Street, #125 on Saturday, July 19 from 12:30 to 2:30PM. Entry is free and open to the public. To register, sign up online using the SAE Open House form (select 12pm-1pm, 1pm-2pm, and 2pm-3pm as the attend times) or call SAE Chicago at (312) 300-5685.
Additional "Hear & Now" workshops will be held at SAE campuses in August. These workshops, which will be co-presented by Ableton, will celebrate and demonstrate the important music genres that are native to each campus' respective city. Included will be historical discussions of the noteworthy artists within each scene as well as demonstrations of how to produce their unique styles of music.
