New novel from Sam Leonard explores spirituality from atheist’s standpoint
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) August 06, 2014 -- Author Sam Leonard tackles the capacity love has to overcome different cultural values, religious beliefs and skin colors in his new novel, “Messenger From God: A Story of Fate and Faith” (published by Lulu).
“This is an extremely fast reading, highly visual action-adventure, sexually charged love story that portrays a side of Miami different from the glitz of South Beach,” Leonard says.
Jesse Syms, a down-on-his-luck, white Miami fisherman – and an atheist – miraculously rescues a single mom and her three young children, and it’s all caught on camera. The video instantly goes viral, making Jesse an instant media superstar. Jesse’s post-rescue stardom takes his life to incredible highs – as he falls in love with a black, single-mom school teacher – and unbearable lows – as his ex-wife, a beautiful TV investigative reporter, tries to expose him as a fraud while a greedy televangelist takes advantage of his miracle rescue.
As Jesse’s life spirals out of control and into utter hopelessness, his new love tries desperately to save him and the saga culminates with Jesse confronting his own spirituality, despite a determined effort on his part to avoid such an encounter at all costs.
“True faith can appear in a myriad of different ways,” Leonard says. “‘Messenger From God’ contrasts greedy, capitalistic, modern televangelism with genuine heart-felt religious belief while also exploring the complexities of an interracial relationship.”
