Coding Bootcamp for Beginners to Open New Campus in San Francisco
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 29, 2014 -- Mobile Makers Academy will open a coding bootcamp in San Francisco, offering an eight-week course in mobile app development for beginners. The new campus will double the academy’s reach and will provide another place of study for beginners to learn iOS development, including Objective-C and Swift.
“There is great demand for developers across the country, and Mobile Makers wants to support people who will fill those roles,” said Brandon Passley, co-founder and CEO of Mobile Makers. “In order to do that, we need more locations to train young developers and to accommodate our growing student body while maintaining our culture and teaching philosophy.”
In 2012, Mobile Makers established its headquarters in Chicago. Since then, more than 150 students have completed the immersive learning program. The San Francisco campus will continue to offer small class sizes, which range from 20 to 30 students per cohort, and it will allow Mobile Makers to build stronger relationships with recruiters in the region to boost job connections for its graduates.
“To ensure we establish the right teaching style and maintain the Mobile Makers experience, we will bring some of our Chicago team to San Francisco to get the program running. Eventually, we will add and train staff who are dedicated to the Bay Area,” said Passley. “We expect to hire five to ten full-time staff members and real-world practitioners to support our San Francisco cohorts.”
The San Francisco campus will be Mobile Makers’ second location. The academy plans to open campuses in several cities and to add additional programming courses on other mobile platforms in 2015.
“We want each Mobile Makers location to be the hub for all things mobile, the place where people will learn and talk about mobile app development with passion and purpose,” Passley added.
In addition to its expansion plans, the academy has piloted Mobile Makers for High Schools, a unique iOS training program for high school instructors. The program provides school districts with a fully developed student curriculum as well as curriculum support throughout the school year.
