Sandy Miller Offers New Perspective on Revelation in New Book
Panama City Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) September 28, 2013 -- Theologians and believers alike have been turning to the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, to try and decipher when the world will end. Author Sandy Miller takes a fresh, positive approach to the Book of Revelation in her new book, “Understanding the Book of Revelation as Cultural Literature: John’s Vision Influenced by Past and Present World Empires, Middle Eastern Gods and Goddesses, and Roman Emperor Worship” (published by iUniverse).
“The Book of Revelation made me wonder if the God I worshiped was good,” says Miller. “I hoped that the popular belief that God was just waiting to destroy the world was not true. I decided to study the book myself.”
The book describes a more peaceful apocalyptic view where there are no bloody victims. Miller cites John the Disciple as the writer of Revelation and reveals that the blood on Jesus’ white robe is the blood of his self-sacrifice, not the blood of others. The army of truth tellers battles for the hearts and minds of men, saving them through God’s word. The result is a sharp contrast to the doomsday theories and a more positive one at that.
An excerpt from “Understanding the Book of Revelation as Cultural Literature”:
“Antony and Cleopatra began politicking to gather support to fight Octavian. Living near the temple of Artemis of the Ephesians, where sacred prostitution was a religious rite, insured broad minded citizens. They cheered the charismatic couple as incarnations of the god Dionysus and the Egyptian goddess Isis.”
