Savannah Bee Company Adds Packaging to Their Sustainability Initiatives
Savannah, GA; Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) January 17, 2014 -- Already embracing sustainability initiatives, Savannah Bee Company adopts eco-friendly packaging materials from Geami to ship their products.
With continued growth at their busy manufacturing facility, packaging efficiency became a priority. Product packaged in packing peanuts created high volume space and sustainability issues. Much real estate was required to store one truckload order of peanuts. Products contained in glass and shipped in a box of peanuts was cumbersome; it was difficult to keep peanuts below heavy items as the peanuts would shift during shipment. Damage claims became an issue.
Savannah Bee turned to Geami for their GreenWrap™ protective paper packaging. Jay Randall, Retail Inventory Manager, commented, “Choosing a sustainable packaging solution made sense since Savannah Bee embraces sustainability initiatives and our products are either organic or contain natural ingredients.” According to Randall, GreenWrap is simple to learn how to use, wraps easily, and protects their product well during shipment.
Storage problems were virtually eliminated with GreenWrap arriving on stackable pallets. Storage space was reduced 15 to 1 since Geami’s product is shipped in a compact state. GreenWrap has enabled Savannah Bee to improve time efficiency by reducing the time spent packing one box, which ultimately saves labor costs. Before, packers had difficulty determining how to pack a product with peanuts to ensure secure packaging. Brantley Beene-Crowder, Director of Web Sales weighed in, “GreenWrap protects our products securely in boxes. Anything that can keep two bottles intact when shipped is hugely important.” With product now packaged in cushioning protective paper, damage claims have been nearly eradicated.
Today, Savannah Bee's manufacturing facility, retail stores and e-commerce now ship products wrapped in GreenWrap. To learn more about Savannah Bee products, visit http://www.savannahbee.com.
