Sawaya Consulting has acquired Emerson Stone, merged with Coast To Coast Studio, and created a new company called Anchor & Alpine. This new product-focused design studio will carry on the work of the original firms in strategy, branding, product design, and UX.

Sawaya Consulting, a Utah-based design and technology firm, is pleased to announce the successful merger and acquisition of two design firms: Boulder-based Emerson Stone and Salt Lake City-based Coast To Coast Studio. After more than twelve years in business, Sawaya Consulting is expanding their offerings and changing their name to Anchor & Alpine: A full-service design and technology agency. Sawaya Consulting partner Amber Sawaya recently returned to Salt Lake City after an 18-month stint as EVP of UX and Product at a machine learning startup in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The new firm will continue to focus on:

Strategy & Branding
Product Design & Prototyping
Interface Design & User Experience
Communication & Production Design
WordPress, Squarespace, & bespoke Websites

“We’ve been following the rise of Emerson Stone since launch and have always admired their work, their community giving, and their brand,” said Amber Sawaya, Partner at Sawaya Consulting. “We’re very excited to acquire the Boulder design agency and continue creating brands, websites, products, and prototypes. To help us expand our capacity and continue to do incredible work for clients, we’re merging with Coast To Coast Studio, a Salt Lake City design agency. Coast To Coast adds incredible talent in branding, strategy, and trend forecasting. Going forward we’ll be known as Anchor & Alpine.”

Over the last five years, Emerson Stone has worked on branding, design and development projects for a variety of clients from startups to enterprise including IBM, Otterbox, and 3M. “We are very excited about the vision that Sawaya Consulting has for the new agency, and know that it will be great for our clients to be a part of this company with more support and service at all levels,” said Andy Stone, founding partner. Emerson Stone’s agency services and offerings, including the community-focused Free Design Fridays, will be continued and expanded within Anchor & Alpine.

The merger with another well-connected Utah design firm will help expand the capacity of the team. “As an intimate, boutique branding and design agency, we are thrilled to be merging with leaders in the product design and UX industry," said Lucy Blatt and Paige Kershaw, founders of Coast To Coast Studio. "We're excited to bring brand-forward thinking to our newly founded team.”

The merger and acquisition helps all teams better serve and focus on the industries we have deep knowledge and partnerships in:

Hard Sciences — Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Bioscience
Health & Wellness — Hemp & Cannabis, Beauty and Fitness
