Designers Insurance Agency and the Girls on the Run Organization Co-Sponsor Charity Effort to Empower School-Aged Girls in Fairfax Virginia
Fairfax, VA (PRWEB) August 24, 2015 -- Designers Insurance Agency, a locally owned insurance provider with offices in Fairfax, Gainesville, and Herndon, is launching a joint fund raising effort with local charity Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia (GOTR NOVA).
Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia (GOTR NOVA) empowers school-aged girls and young women to develop confidence, character, and strength with a research-based after school program developed to incorporate running in a unique and creative way. Built around a ten week season, the Girls on the Run program utilizes volunteer coaches and peer mentors to guide students through a curriculum that involves positive affirmation, relationship building, health, nutrition, and a positive mental attitude.
GOTR NOVA is one of the largest independent affiliates of the parent organization, Girls on the Run International, and enjoys the participation of nearly 5,000 girls each year across Northern Virginia. Since 2000, more than 50,000 girls and young women have taken part in the GOTR NOVA program.
“A hands-on approach to character building and an emphasis on keeping a positive attitude make the Girls on the Run program invaluable to the young women in our community,” says Wally Arcayan, owner and manager of Designers Insurance Agency. “The lessons these young ladies are learning will benefit them for the rest of their lives, and we want to make sure the program continues serving our students for years to come.”
Mobilizing his team to reach out to business associates, neighbors, and community members, Arcayan is utilizing a deep list of personal and professional contacts to raise awareness and bring in donations to support the GOTR NOVA program. Additional efforts are underway to construct an online presence on social media channels that the team hopes will bring in support from across the state.
