We are extremely impressed with Schutt’s overriding commitment to the safety and quality of its football helmets.

Marc Harris, the CEO of sports equipment retailer Sports Depot, congratulated Schutt Sports on its Vengeance VTDII football helmet, which earned 5 stars in the STAR helmet rating system. Virginia Tech engineers gave the helmet a STAR value of 0.180, the best score since the rating system was introduced in 2011.

“We are extremely impressed with Schutt’s overriding commitment to the safety and quality of its football helmets. We are also honored to be chosen as one of the few distributors in the country to carry this new fantastic helmet. Currently available in white and black in size large, we expect additional sizes and colors to be available for the upcoming football season.”

Sports Depot is a leading online and instore retailer of football helmets from Schutt, which also makes the third and fourth ranked helmets on the Virginia Tech list. The rating measures how well helmets protect the head from injury, and is the only helmet rating system that is independent of manufacturers and leagues.

The STAR ratings give customers important information in making a purchase, but Mr. Harris stresses that no helmet system can be solely responsible for preventing injury. “Players must learn and utilize the proper method of tackling to eliminate the risk of injury, and this, combined with the great progress made in helmet safety will continue to lessen the amount of injuries. Football is by far the most popular sport in the country, manufacturers like Schutt will continue to make it safer as well. We are proud to represent and distribute their products.

The Schutt Vengeance VTDII helmet retails for $254.99 and is available from Sports Depot at SportsDepot.com.
